NUS Conference 2005

This was my second NUS Conference, but the first time as a delegate (from King's). I was there from Tuesday until Thursday.

Didn't take a lot of pictures - too busy with the whole Conference which left less time for other things. It was a good experience, and I hope that I served the King's students well.

Bruges

This is my second trip to Bruges. In May 2003 I went there alone, part of my solo backpacking trip from Paris - Lille - Brussels - Bruges - Amsterdam.

Over the Easter weekend Imaan, Mustapha, Nadia, Samantha and I took the trip to the quaint Flemish town. Imaan and I also joined a cycling tour to Damme (as in the Damme in Jean Claude's) which was breathtaking!

A worthwhile break!

Snowfall

Since I came to London in 2002, there has been snow every year for short intervals. This year, we thought we wouldn't have snow, but it turns out that

Some pictures from last Monday. There's still some snow fall yesterday and today!

Can't wait for spring! Some of the pictures by Khairul.

Weekend Outing

On Saturday night was the Akyuem Makan@Mawar event. Most of the crowd were the first years (i.e. the 5th batch) - though I hardly know most of them, it's good to see the spirit living on!

I spend most of the night catching up with my own batch mates - Zeti, Nora, Nik Nur and Kerol.

Yesterday Imaan and I went for lunch and desert with Seow and Melvin. We went to Nahar - but before the famous Nasi Ayam was ready and then went for a sumptious desert at My Old Dutch.

Another round of huge crepes!

Some of the pics are by Imaan.

Dina's Birthday

Dina, Heideq, Shida, Nizam, Mas, Marina and I went out on Saturday night just to catch up since everyone's in London and celebrate Dina's birthday.

We had dinner at Yo Sushi near Leicester Square, then Nizam and Shida came to join us. For supper - ice cream and giant crepes at Old Dutch, Holborn. I had bananas, ice cream and maple syrup for mine!

We were really full at the end of it all!

House Birthday Surprise

Thanks guys, for the cake and birthday wish!

I heard some noises outside my room at about 10 minutes prior to midnight, so I had a hint, and true enough, at midnight they came in and surprised me with a chocolate cake, with '23' written on it with skittles (yes!) and peanuts and M&Ms.

Thanks again, to my wonderful housemates, Bala, Kerol and Franky. It doesn't feel too good to be the eldest in the house though!

MSM Winter Retreat 2004

I was one of the panellist in a forum called "Professional Sebagai Teras Pembangunan Islam" (or Professionals as the Core for Muslim Development) during the recent Majlis Syura Muslimun Winter Retreat in Coventry.

The forum took place on 31 December 2004 between 6.00 to 8.00 pm. The other panellists were Khadijah Hassanah (Manchester), Nurul Hanan Ariffin (Dublin) and Amir Farid (Sheffield).

The event was graced by a representative from the Malaysian Students Department.

I also met my friends, Azmir from Manchester, Muhsin and Syikin from Dublin, Faidz and Hamizi from Sheffield, and Heideq and Safa from Warwick. Madeehah from Glasgow was there as well.

I would like to thank the organisers for inviting me and their hospitality especially the Ameer for MSM, Dr. Fauzi Abd Rani as well as Dr. Amar from Coventry.

Eating and Shopping

It's the third year on the trot for Jaz and Syad to come over from Dublin for Christmas. Khairul and I met up with them and the rest at Cherap's house in Manor House last Monday, for a game of footie, and then later at night we went to accompany them for another of their bouts of shopping at Oxford Street.

In between that we had dinner - courtesy of Kamal. He received £40 for rescuing a lady from a snatch thief, when he alerted everyone and then Rai managed to land a punch on the thief's face! Such are the misadventures!

16 Flaxman Road Christmas Dinner

Franscois, my housemate, had celebrated his past two Christmases in the UK in his auntie's house in Durham. This year, as he will be working for Chelsea during their Boxing Day match, Franscois spent his first Christmas in London.

So he prepared a huge feast consisting of roasted turkey and potato and leek soup.

He also found a Christmas tree in our store!

Su Yin and her family, Izura (from Australia!) and Farah were all there, along with Khairul and I.
